Tampa Bay Lightning & Detroit Red Wings Tied 1-1 At 2nd Intermission

Nikita Kucherov found the back of the net for his third goal of the season with only 0:44 seconds left in the second period to tie the game at 1-1.

The Lightning had an excellent opportunity to tie the game early in the period when Martin St. Louis broke through all alone short handed against Red Wing Goalie Jonas Gustavsson but his shot was just wide of the net.

Lightning goalie Ben Bishop made two outstanding saves to keep the Red Wings from extending their lead.

Shots On Goal:

The Lightning were outshot 8-6 in the first period but came back to outshoot the Red Wings 10-6 in the second period and lead 16-14 for the game.

Special Teams:

The Lightning Penalty Kill unit killed the Red Wings second opportunity (3:06 Mark Barberio).

The Lightning Power Play unit was thwarted in their second opportunity (9:46 Jonathan Ericsson).
