Ryan Callahan Says He Likes Tampa, Lightning

Tampa Bay Lightning right wing Ryan Callahan spoke to the media as he was cleaning out his locker.

(reflecting on trade, experience)

“Yeah I mean it was great right from day one. As I said all along, they excepted me right away, the guys in the [locker] room, the organization. Tough trade where they lose a part of their room, key part of their organization. Coming in I never felt like an outsider or anything, which was nice.”

(Has your agent been in contact with Steve Yzerman?)

“No he hasn’t yet. I’m sure that’ll happen over the next couple days or weeks here. I haven’t really thought about it to be honest with you, season just ended, I’m kinda trying to get organized, head back home. I’m sure they’ll be in contact in the near future.”

(Is this a place you’d like to return to?)

“Yeah I enjoyed it here. I really enjoyed my time here, it’s a very good team. Great city, great organization. I’m very open to that.”

(What did you like about it?)

“The guys in the room. How close they are off the ice and I think on the ice speaks for itself. How good of a group we have, how young we are. The future definitely looks very bright. How they treat the guys, and how they treated me when I came in.”
