NHL: Lightning Jets Preview

The Lightning continue their season-high five game homestand tonight when they take on the Winnipeg Jets…The Lightning are a perfect 4-0-0 at the Tampa Bay Times Forum this season and are on a four-game winning streak overall…Tampa Bay currently ranks third in the Eastern Conference and are sixth in the league with 10 points…Tonight’s matchup between the Lightning and Jets is the first of four meetings between the division rivals…Last season the Lightning went 3-2-1 against Winnipeg, including a mark of 2-0-1 at the Times Forum…One of the Lightning’s two shutouts during the 2011-12 season came against the Jets on Oct. 29…The Lightning haven’t allowed a power play goal against the Jets/Thrashers at the Times Forum since Oct. 9, 2010.

Steven Stamkos scored his 60th goal of the season last time these two clubs met in the season finale in 2011-12…Stamkos recorded a point in each meeting against the Jets last season, accumulating nine points (four goals, five assists) in six games…Teddy Purcell notched his second career NHL hat trick against Winnipeg on Apr. 7, 2012 and finished the season with seven points (four goals, three assists) in six games against the Jets…Tampa Bay holds an all-time record of 25-8-1-3 against Winnipeg/Atlanta on home ice…The Lightning haven’t lost in regulation time against Winnipeg/Atlanta since Apr. 11, 2009, going 8-0-1 during that stretch.

The Lightning rank first in the NHL with 29 goals this season…14 of the Lightning’s 29 tallies have come in the third period, ranking first in the NHL…Tampa Bay is averaging 4.8 goals a game which ranks first in the league…Tampa Bay has notched four or more goals in a game in five of their first six games this season…The Bolts’ +14 goal differential ranks first in the Eastern Conference and tied for second in the NHL…13 different Bolts have registered at least a goal this season….Nine of the Lightning’s goals have come while on the man-advantage, ranking tied for third in the league in that category…Tampa Bay’s 22 home goals ranks first in the NHL.

Cory Conacher has recorded points in five of his first six games this season, including a two-point effort on Tuesday night against the Panthers. He became the first player in Lightning 20-year history to record points in each of his first three NHL games…Conacher ranks tied for first in the NHL in rookie scoring with nine points (three goals, six assists)….He became just the sixth player in Lightning history to record his first career NHL goal in his NHL debut….Four of his six games this season have been multi-point efforts.
