TAMPA BAY – The Tampa Bay Lightning and the Lightning Foundation will hold the 13th annual Bolt Run, presented by vitaminwater®, benefitting the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, on Saturday, March 15 with the first race starting at 7 a.m. Each registered participant will receive a free ticket to the Lightning’s game that night against the New Jersey Devils at 7 p.m. or the Monday, March 17 game against the Vancouver Canucks. This year’s St. Patrick’s Day themed event will consist of three races, spanning the entire morning and feature pre-and post-race parties on Ford Thunder Alley at the Tampa Bay Times Forum.
The Bolt Run features three separate classifications of races which participants may enter. The five-mile race will begin at 7 a.m., while the 5-K event will start at 7:30 a.m. The one-mile Family Fun race will feature a start time of 8:30 a.m. and will wrap up the day’s festivities. All three races will begin and end at the Tampa Bay Times Forum, while the pre-event and post-event parties will be held on Ford Thunder Alley.
Each race will feature chip timing and results that will be posted on http://boltrun.racehawk.com. Awards will be distributed to the top three runners in the 5K, five-mile and one-mile Family Fun races. Raffle prizes including Lightning merchandise, tickets to events at the Times Forum and Lightning home games will also be awarded. Lightning broadcasters, alumni, ThunderBug, the Lightning Girls and the mobile fan truck, Rolling Thunder, will also be at the event.
Participants are encouraged to register early at www.tampabaylightning.com/boltrun and to pick up their race packets prior to the day of the event. Pre-registered runners can pick up their packets on Tuesday, March 11 and Wednesday, March 12 between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m., or on Friday, March 14, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. at the Times Forum’s Lakewood Ranch Client Services Lounge.
