TAMPA BAY – The Tampa Bay Lightning have recalled forward J.T. Brown and defenseman Dmitry Korobov from the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League today, vice president and general manager Steve Yzerman announced.
Brown, 5-foot-10, 172 pounds, has played in 13 games with the Crunch this season, recording four goals and 10 points with a plus-5 rating. He is also third on the team among forwards for penalty minutes with 24. Brown is currently on a two-game point streak for Syracuse, with a goal and an assist, as well as a plus-3 rating, in the team’s previous two games.
A native of Rosemount, Minnesota, Brown has played in 64 career AHL games, notching 14 goals and 38 points. Last season he ranked second on the Crunch for rookie scoring with 10 goals and 28 points. Brown helped the Crunch to last season’s Calder Cup Final, recording four goals and nine points in 18 playoff games.
Brown, 23, was signed by the Lightning as a free agent on March 28, 2012. He has played in five career NHL games, all during the 2011-12 season, and recorded one assist with a plus-2 rating.
Korobov, 6-3, 235 pounds, has played in all 13 games for the Crunch this season, recording six assists. He is the team’s plus/minus leader with a plus-7 rating and has also accumulated 13 penalty minutes. Playing in his second season in North America, Korobov has had a minus rating in a game just once this season, on October 18 against Binghamton (-3).
A native of Novopolotsk, Belarus, Korobov has played in 78 career AHL games, all with the Crunch, recording three goals and 28 points. Last season he ranked second in the AHL among rookies with a plus-20 rating. Korobov helped lead Syracuse to the 2013 Calder Cup Final, recording a goal and two points in 17 games.
Korobov, 24, was signed as a free agent on August 2, 2012. Before coming to North America for the 2012-13 season, he played multiple seasons for Dynamo Minsk of the Kontinential Hockey League. During his time in the KHL he amassed two goals and 20 points in 82 games. Korobov also appeared in nine playoff games for Minsk, notching a goal and three points. He has also represented Belarus in a number of international competitions, most recently the 2012, 2011 and 2009 IIHF World Championships.
