Tampa Bay Lightning And Florida Panthers  Tied 1-1 At 1st Intermission

The Tampa Bay Lightning and Florida Panthers are tied at 1-1 at the end of the first period.

The game was scoreless until the 18:56 mark when for their sixth straight game the Panthers scored first.  While on their second power play of the period the Panthers Aleksander Barkov intercepted a clearing pass and sent the puck to Sean Bergenheim who snapped a shot past Ben Bishop for his fifth goal of the season. 

The Lighting responded quickly when just 0:19 seconds later Valtteri Filppula carried the puck into the Panther zone and fed Victor Hedman whose shot went off Panthers goalie Scott Clemmensen and deflected to Alex Killorn who tipped in the rebound to tie the game at the 19:15 mark. It was Killorn’s ninth goal of the season.

Shots On Goal:

The Florida Panthers outshot the Lightning 11-9 in the first period.

Special Teams:

The Lightning Power Play unit went on the ice at the 8:34 mark when Dmitry Kulikov went off for 2-minutes for holding but the Panthers penalty kill unit kept them off the boar.

The Lightning Penalty Kill was called upon at the 15:04 mark when Alex Killorn was sent off for 2-minutes for hooking and again seconds after killing the first penalty when Ondrej Palat was sent off for 2-minutes at the 17:16 mark for hooking.  The Panthers who were 1 for their last 25 on power play opportunities coming into the game scored on their second opportunity of the game.
