1st Intermission: Lightning and Red Wings Tied At 1-1

Through 20 minutes of play the Tampa Bay Lightning (11-4-00 and Detroit Red Wings (9-5-3) are tied at 1-1. The Lightning spent the first period in attack mode pushing the action in the Red Wings zone and as a result have out shot the Red Wings 13-7.

The Red Wings jumped out to an early 1-0 lead 3:51 into the game when Henrik Zetterberg intercepted a pass and sent a snap shot behind Lightning goalie Ben Bishop. It was Zetterbergs 9th goal on the season.

The Lightning came back and tied the game on a Ryan Malone wrap around goal (8th) with assists to Matt Carle (8) and Nate Thompson(2) at the 10:11 mark. It was Malone’s first career goal against the Red Wings.


I am a fan of all sports but am most passionate about baseball. From the fanatical to analytical, nothing about the game escapes me. Being born and raised in Northeast Ohio I'm very familiar with the heartache and pain that sports can bring and hope that I bring some understanding of the other side to my coverage.
