SUNRISE, Fla. (AP) — Much has changed since the last time the Florida Panthers played in a postseason game. Gas prices have nearly tripled. A dozen or so coaches and general managers have spent time with the organization. Over 200 players have worn the team uniform.
Hey, a lot happens in 12 years.
One thing that hasn’t changed: The Panthers will have to figure out a way to beat New Jersey goaltender Martin Brodeur in the playoffs.
Brodeur swept Florida out of the playoffs in 2000. The Panthers hadn’t been to the postseason since, and make their return to the Stanley Cup playoffs against New Jersey on Friday night in Game 1 of an Eastern Conference first-round series.
The teams split four meetings during the regular season.
