The Montreal Canadiens have acquired veteran defenseman Mike Weaver from the Florida Panthers in exchange for a fifth-round pick in 2015 according to TSN’s Bob McKenzie. The 35-year-old is a solid shutdown defenseman who is on the last year of a two-year, $2.2 million contract.
It’s a small deal, but it helps the Habs slightly upgrade their blue line, which has really struggled of late. It’s also a small price to pay for Montreal to nab a guy that’s played 18-plus minutes a night.
