Recovery Slow, More Surgery For Quincy Black

Bucs general manager Mark Dominik said Black needed surgery later this month to help a damaged nerve, casting more doubt on his future as a football player.

“[Doctors] were waiting to see how much regrowth would happen naturally,” Dominik said, via Stephen Holder of the Tampa Bay Times. “This is supposed to promote the growth.”

Black was placed on injured reserve, after suffering a neck injury on Nov. 11 against the Chargers when he hit running back Ryan Mathews.

“Quincy Black is still in the early stages of where he’s going to be long-term,” Dominik said.
