Lovie Smith: McCoy Contract Extension A “Priority”

According to Roy Cummings of the Tampa Tribune, Bucs head coach Lovie Smith says that extending defensive tackle Gerald McCoy’s contract is definitely a priority. “Gerald McCoy is an obvious leader on this team,” Coach Smith said. “A guy we definitely want around here for a while.”

McCoy played 16 games in the 2013 season, wrapping up 9.5 sacks with 15 assists.

McCoy signed a five-year, $63,437,253 contract on July 31, 2010. The deal contains $35 million guaranteed, including a one-time roster bonus of $12 million on the second year.
