For The New York Daily News:
NY Jets will explore options with Darrelle Revis, possibilities include a trade of star cornerback
Revis Island is on Woody Johnson’s map.
Johnson told the front office he is ready explore any and all avenues, which could include a trade if one that makes sense for Gang Green can be achieved, the source said. The All-Pro cornerback is rehabbing a torn ACL suffered four months ago and played only in two games this season.
Although a published report suggested that Johnson “has expressed his desire to attempt to land value for Revis now” through a trade, it’s unlikely that the Jets could get a fair return for arguably the best defensive player in the NFL. Any such moves could happen only when the new league year begins in March.
Revis, who is to earn $6 million via base salary and bonuses in 2013, would become an unrestricted free agent after the season if he doesn’t skip any mandatory offseason events including reporting to training camp.
