The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will be without running back and kick returner Jeff Demps this weekend against the Atlanta Falcons due to a groin injury that required him to have surgery.
“Jeff had surgery today, on his groin. I’m not sure exactly how long he’ll be out. [It’s] too early to tell,” head coach Greg Schiano told reporters Thursday.
Demps suffered the injury during the Bucs’ 21-30 loss to the Eagles last Sunday, a game in which he caught two passes for 13 receiving yards. He left the game and did not return.
As Schiano alluded to, a timetable for recovery is unclear at this point. The team activated wide receiver/kick returner Skye Dawson from the practice squad to help fill the void.
