TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Tampa Bay’s LeGarrette Blount believes he can be a complete running back and is going to get an opportunity to prove it.
The second-year pro returned to practice this week after missing two games because of a left knee sprain. With primary third-down back Earnest Graham now sidelined for the season with an injury of his own, the 247-pound Blount is set to take on an expanded role in the offense when the Buccaneers face the New Orleans Saints on Sunday.
A punishing runner who rushed for over 1,000 yards as a rookie, Blount has not played much on third downs or in no-huddle situations early in his career because of concerns about his ability to handle pass protection duties.
