When Reggie Bush left South Beach, it was widely assumed that second-year RB Lamar Miller would take over as the featured running back over third-year RB Daniel Thomas. Miller’s a threat to take it to the house whenever he touches the rock and averaged 4.9 YPC as a rookie, while Thomas averaged just 3.5 YPC as a rookie and 3.6 YPC last season.
The preseason only seemed to further solidify Miller as the better option, as he averaged 4.2 YPC to Thomas’ 2.7 YPC. Sure enough, he is listed as the starter, but coach Joe Philbin and OC Mike Sherman have remained steadfast in their support for Thomas playing a big role and that hasn’t changed.
