Jaguars WR Shorts Leaves Practice With Calf Injury

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Jacksonville Jaguars receiver Cecil Shorts III has a strained left calf muscle.

Shorts left practice early Monday following the injury, which happened while making a catch.

Coach Gus Bradley calls the injury “nothing major.”

With Shorts and fellow starter Justin Blackmon (groin) on the sideline, rookie Ace Sanders and second-year pro Mike Brown got repetitions with the first-team offense Monday.

Defensive end Jeremy Mincey (concussion), running back Justin Forsett (toe), safety Johnathan Cyprien (hamstring) and cornerback Lionel Smith (quadriceps) also sat out practice. Mincey, who was hit in the head during practice Thursday, saw a neurologist Monday and “is going through standardized concussion protocol designed by NFL physicians,” the team said.

Forsett says there is no timetable for his return. Bradley says Cyprien is expected back early next week.
