Jaguars Sign LB Studebaker, Waive Yates

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed veteran linebacker Andy Studebaker and waived rookie place-kicker Adam Yates.

The moves came Tuesday, four days before the team’s second preseason game.

With linebacker Russell Allen sidelined because of a sprained right ankle, the Jaguars were looking to add depth at the position.

Studebaker has played in 70 career games with eight starts, all with Kansas City. He has 83 tackles, 2 ½ sacks and two interceptions. Originally a sixth-round draft pick by Philadelphia in 2008, Studebaker spent most of his rookie season on the Eagles practice squad before he was signed to the Chiefs active roster. He was released in April.

Yates was signed as an extra leg before training camp to ease Josh Scobee’s workload.
