Later in the day, they found out quarterback Blaine Gabbert’s latest injury (right hamstring) would prevent him from starting Sunday at Denver.
The big loss is Joeckel, who faces a six-month recovery after he was rolled into from behind by St. Louis defensive tackle Kendall Langford.
“It was tough,” Joeckel said. “I’m feeling a little bit better today. … Last night, I couldn’t think about anything positive. Couldn’t sleep. Couldn’t get comfortable. You’re just thinking. It wasn’t a great night.”
Coach Gus Bradley said Gabbert’s injury is “week to week.”
