UCF Knights Basketball Christmas Wish List

Depth Tops The UCF Knights’ Wish List

The UCF Knights have got off to a great start of the season under new head coach Johnny Dawkins. They are currently 9-3 right now and have shocked a lot of people with the way they are playing.

They have received some votes to be in the top 25, and continue to improve as the season comes along. But there are some things that the Knights would like as well so they can get even better. Here are three things on their Christmas list that the Knights are hoping to get.

More Depth is needed in a Big Way

Depth is a big problem for the Knights as they don’t have a full roster to utilize. Some of those issues have to do with the transfers that they have. Because of NCAA rules, they have to sit out for one season before they can play and that’s too bad because those guys can play and can really help the Knights in a big way.

The Knights right now only have an eight man rotation and to be quite honest, two of those guys shouldn’t really be on the floor at times. Their bench production hasn’t been there either as their bench has been outscored in just about every game this season. They won’t get their wish for this season, but next year however will be a different story as the Knights will have a better rotation and will be even better next year.

Getting BJ Taylor back ASAP

Right now, UCF Knights starting point guard and one of the best players on the team in B.J. Taylor is currently sidelined with a hand injury. Taylor leads the team in points and assists and is really missed right by the team. When Taylor has been on the floor, the Knights have looked unstoppable but when he hasn’t been playing, the Knights are in the middle of the pack.

So, when Taylor comes back from his hand injury, look for the Knights to get back to playing their style of basketball and begin to look more unstoppable than ever before and make some noise when they begin conference play.

More Tacko equals more Wins

Since Taylor went down with his hand injury, the Knights got off to a 1-2 start by struggling to score the basketball. The last two games has been a different story as they decided to go more down low more to Tacko Fall, using his size and post-game to their advantage.

Fall has had two of his best games in his career as he went for a career high 31 points against Miami Ohio and then while he scored only 20 points the last game, he scored those 20 points in only 22 minutes of action which is very impressive.

Look for the Knights to continue that trend even when Taylor comes back as no one really can stop Fall from scoring at will and will make the Knights stronger than ever.

What to Expect

If the Knights can get most of the thing s on their wish list, look for the Knights to be dominant in Conference play and be true contenders to win the American Conference and qualify for the NCAA tournament. Also expect the Knights to be ranked in the top 25 at season’s end and will be even better for next season.
