Woodson: No Trades In Sight
On Tuesday, Knicks coach Mike Woodson all but guaranteed that New York would be standing pat at Thursday’s deadline.
“I don’t think we have anything working. You always talk (about potential trades) but we like the makeup of our team as we stand today,” Woodson said after the Knicks’ practice on Tuesday. “This is our basketball team and we’ve got to move forward in the right direction, I think.”
Later, in an interview on ESPN 98.7 FM’s “The Stephen A. Smith Show,” Woodson expanded on the Knicks’ position entering the deadline.
He said he liked that his team was leading the Atlantic Division at the All-Star break and saw no need for a major overhaul.
Furthermore, he acknowledged that the Knicks have few attractive trade chips.
“It’s not going to be easy to get (quality) players that can come in now. We have an older team and there’s not a lot of teams around that are going to take older veterans,” Woodson said. “It doesn’t work that way. This is the team that we’ve assembled and I like the makeup of our ball club, I really do.”
