Will Brent Musburger be back at ESPN?

DidBrent Musburger andKirk Herbstreit call their last game together? If so Brent could not have picked a better one to leave on. FSU beat Auburn 34-31 in a game that saw the iconic broadcaster at his best.

It is very hard to believe that ESPN/ABC lead college play - by-play manwill be turning 75 this year and many in the sports media business think that Musburger will retire.

I for one hopes that he keeps going as long as he wants to call the games.

He has been at ESPN since 1990 and he was the lead play by play man on college football at CBS during most of the 1980's.

ESPN is playing very close to vest on what they plan to do withMusburger, who will turn 75 in May. They could give him a two year extension, or make him the face of the SEC Network, he does live here in Florida. The network could also just choose not to renew his deal. That would leave the iconic broadcaster a free agent.

Make no mistake about it, Musburgeris still a fine play by play man, but ESPN has a bit of a problem. Their two best young play by play men Chris Fowler andRece Davis would like a chance to sit next to the network's lead analystKirk Herbstreiton the big game.

If ESPN does drop Musburger then look for Fowler to be their "A game," play by play man with Davis being promoted to GameDay. Hey if Musburger does choose to leave the booth he would be a great addition to Sports Talk Florida. Just saing....
