Wil Myers Is Recovering Well, Headed To Durham
We haven't seen Rays outfieler Wil Myers all summer. He has been on the disabled list, and most recently in rehab, with a broken wrist after taking a fall trying to catch a fly ball. Myers tweeted an update on his progress Monday afternoon.
Leaving Port Charlotte. Felt really good taking BP on the field. Another day of BP tomorrow before I leave to join the @DurhamBulls!— Wil Myers (@wilmyers) August 4, 2014
Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times provided a more detailed update. Myers will participate in batting practice in Port Charlotte Tuesday and head to Triple-A Durham and possibly a DH stint by the weekend.
Myers is hitting .227 and has 25 RBI on the season. In his two years in Tampa he has driven in 78 runs.
Topkin also updates us on some other Rays players...
OF David DeJesus (fractured left hand) has started swinging and could be ready for batting practice by the end of next week. C Ryan Hanigan will be shut down for the rest of the week, with a tentative target of returning within two weeks. INF Tim Beckham (right knee surgery) moved up to advanced Class A Charlotte on his rehab assignment, which can run for five more days.
