What’s Going On With The Astros?
The Houston Astros have been making headlines over the past week with their bean-ball war with the A’s and their excessive number of defensive shifts. Given all the commotion surrounding the team, Fox Sports decided to go to the source, Astros general manager Jeff Luhnow, for some explanations.
Though the team has made some interesting decisions with their infield defense lately, such as shifting on Mike Trout (who uses the whole field), Luhnow insists the team is not doing so to gain more information for the future:
“We do want to learn as much as we can every time we do something differently out there. But are we doing things just to learn? No. We’re doing things for reasons that we have. We believe we’re going to get more outs that way.“
Luhnow also weighs in on the controversy surrounding the team’s skipper Bo Porter and RHP Mark Appel being sent from Class-A to extended spring training here.
