Series History
The Tampa Bay Rowdies are 5-5-2 all-time against the Atlanta Silverbacks, including a 2-1-1 record last year. In their first meeting of the year, the Rowdies let a 3-1 halftime lead slip to a 4-3 defeat at home. After that, the Rowdies picked up a 2-1 win at Silverbacks Park. In the fall season, Tampa Bay and Atlanta drew 1-1 in Atlanta and the Rowdies won 3-1 at home. The teams averaged four goals per matchup in 2013.

Last Meeting
The Rowdies and Silverbacks most recently met on Sept. 21 of last season, a 3-1 Rowdies win at Al Lang Stadium. Georgi Hristov scored goals in the 54th and 57th minutes and Shane Hill netted a goal in the 65th to put Tampa Bay up 3-0. Horace James, now with FC Edmonton, scored for Atlanta in the 75th minute but the Rowdies held on for the win.

Rowdies Notes
The Tampa Bay Rowdies are coming off a pair of 1-1 draws to open the season. Saturday in Indianapolis, forward Brian Shriver netted his first Rowdies goal in the 48th minute to put Tampa Bay ahead. The Eleven equalized in the 82nd minute via an Erick Norales goal.

Against Indy, the Rowdies used the same starting XI as the FC Edmonton match, with a tactical adjustment that saw Evans Frimpong drop off the front line and into the midfield of a 4-4-2 formation. Lucky Mkosana again appeared as a second-half substitute, as did Keith Savage, who made his 2014 debut in the match.

Scouting Atlanta
The Silverbacks arrive in St. Pete still looking for their first point of the season, following a 4-0 loss at the New York Cosmos on April 13 and a 2-1 home loss to the San Antonio Scorpions last week.

Junior Sandoval scored the first Silverbacks goal of the season in the Scorpions match, heading home on a free kick delivery by Junior Burgos.

Quotable
Head Coach Ricky Hill
“As always, the tendency when teams play against us is that they have nothing to lose and everything to gain. Thus far, they’ve not managed to acquire any points, but that doesn’t mean they’re necessarily a bad team. It may mean that things haven’t been falling for them in their particular games. Likewise for us. We’re very close to being a decent side. Our philosophy has been good. Our mental attitude has been excellent. Unfortunately, we’ve been prone to lapses and those lapses have cost us goals. We’re hoping on Saturday that we don’t have any lapses.”

Up Next
Following this match, the Rowdies depart for a two-game road trip. Tampa Bay visits the San Antonio Scorpions on May 3 and then makes its first trip to play Ottawa Fury FC on May 10. The next two home matches are against the rival New York Cosmos on May 17 and Fort Lauderdale Strikers on May 24. Call (877) ROWDIES to learn about our special two-game promotion going on for the May 17 and May 24 matches.
