Insider: Week Nine NFL Picks
After three straight winning weeks the house caught back up to us seven days ago. We’re going to see if we can rebound and get back on the good side in Week Nine.
Falcons -7 @ Colts
Indianapolis seems to be packing it in as Jim Caldwell’s job security is tenuous at best. Atlanta has won two in a row and seems to be playing their best football. A dome team playing on the road in a dome isn’t that big of a disadvantage. Falcons 24, Colts 10.
Buccaneers +8.5 @ Saints
The Saints loss to Tampa Bay is fresh in their mind and they really can’t afford to get swept by the Bucs. Josh Freeman is playing his worst football since his rookie year and mistakes in decision making are compounded in the Superdome. Saints 38, Bucs 17.
Browns +10.5 @ Texans
The Texans can run the ball as well as anyone and they can throw it, even without Andre Johnson. The real story is the Texans third-ranked defense in the NFL which will make life very difficult for Colt McCoy on Sunday. Texans 28, Browns 13..
Jets +3 @ Bills
From everything I’ve seen this year the Buffalo Bills look like a superior team to the New York Jets. Unfortunately for Buffalo, the Jets match up very well and Darrelle Revis will take Stevie Johnson out of the game. The Jets are the more desperate team. Jets 24, Bills 23.
Dolphins +4 @ Chiefs
Miami has been fighting over the last two weeks and they realistically could have three victories already. One theme of those close losses has been the Dolphins playing well early on. K.C. will get up early in this one and the Dolphins will have a certain Stanford quarterback on their mind. Chiefs 27, Dolphins 9.
49ers -4 @ Redskins
This looks like a trap game as the 6-1 49ers look like the superior squad against a Redskins team that’s been ravaged by injuries. San Francisco gets a bit of a break going west to east as turning the clocks back will give them an extra hour to get prepared for the time zone change. 49ers 24, Redskins 0.
Seahawks +11.5 @ Cowboys
Dallas is likely going to finish as a .500 team. They were down last week so naturally they’ll be up this week. Seattle will have no answers for a solid Cowboys offense. Cowboys 35, Seahawks 13.
Broncos +7.5 @ Raiders
This is a matchup of two of the worst quarterbacks in football. Carson Palmer is rusty, but Tim Tebow can’t play. The Broncos will keep this one close with Darren McFadden out and this game could feature more sacks and turnovers than points. Raiders 13, Broncos 7.
Bengals +3 @ Titans
The Bengals are the team that comes in tied for first place with rookie standouts A.J. Green and Andy Dalton playing well. Tennessee has been mostly forgotten about after a quick start. Everyone is betting Cincinnati so I’ll go the other way. Titans 20, Bengals 14.
Rams +3 @ Cardinals
A.J. Feeley vs. John Skelton may not be as awful as Tebow vs. Palmer, but it’s nowhere near as interesting either. The winner of this game is virtually out of the Andrew Luck sweepstakes so gambler beware. Rams 24, Cards 14.
Giants +9 @ Patriots
Can you say revenge? Tom Brady and the Pats get New York without Hakeem Nicks and Ahmad Bradshaw. Too much underneath stuff from Brady to Welker, Pats get this one, but the Giants will keep the rings. Patriots 38, Giants 28.
Packers -6 @ Chargers
I haven’t seen anything from the Chargers that would make me believe that they can hang with the Pack. After a slow Green Bay start, Aaron Rodgers saves the day for fantasy teams and gamblers alike. Packers 34, Chargers 27.
Ravens +3.5 @ Steelers
There’s really only one thing you need to know about this game: Joe Flacco vs. Ben Roethlisberger. ‘Nuff said. Steelers 24, Ravens 16.
Bears +8 @ Eagles
The Chicago Bears were really the first defense to get after Michael Vick last season by sending overload blitzes and it showed the league how to neutralize the dynamic quarterback. Why can’t they do it again? Bears 24, Eagles 21.
