The Washington Wizards took a commanding 3-1 lead over the Chicago Bulls Sunday afternoon, moving within one game of advancing to the second round of the playoffs for the first time since 2005.
Treva Ariza scored a career playoff high 30 points on 10 for 17 shooting, and grabbing 8 rebounds to lead the Wizards who were without Nene Hilario due to suspension.
“They have a lot of weapons, having said that they are beatable,” Bulls forward Joakim Noah said.
Chicago has done a fantastic job all year long playing team ball and solid defense, but there inability to score the basketball has caught up to them.
They can’t rely on D.J. Augustin to go one on one and hope for the best.
The Bulls did out shoot the Wizards 44% (35-78) to 40% (35-86) from the field but were out done from beyond the arc. Washington connected on 42% (8-19) while Chicago just 21% (4-19).
Bradley Beal finished with 18 points in 39 minutes followed by John Walls 15 points, the back-court duo has the NBA on notice.
Veterans like Ariza who has won an NBA championship, Andre Miller, Marcin Gortat, Drew Gooden and Al Harrington have helped the Wizards become a legitimate contender in the Eastern Conference with leadership and depth.
Game five is Tuesday in Chicago, tip-off set for 8pm.Washington Wizards Entering New Era by David Gaulman
