Joe Maddon Talks About His Teams Play In 7-1 Win Over Indians
After losing four in a row and six straight at home the Rays needed a win. Their four game losing streak was a season and high and the six game home losing streak was their longest in a season since June 17-26, 2005. It had been also been a long 17 days since their last home victory which came onApril 22nd against the Minnesota Twins.
Starting pitcherErik Bedard gave the Rays a quality start and extended the teams streak of starts in which a Rays pitcher has allowed three earned runs or less to eight straight games.
The offense scored seven runs and did it by going four for sixwith runners in scoring position which was a welcome relieffor a team that had scored a combined 10 runs and hit .171 (6 for 35) in their last four games combined. The run production was a team effort as five different hitters drove in a run.
