Victor Oladipo scores 22, Grizzlies beat Magic 97-91
With the NBA season just 10 days away, Magic’s rookie Victor Oladipo is getting all the experience he can get.
On Friday night, Oladipo scored a team high of 22 points during the Magic’s 97-91 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies. Oladipo says he is becoming more and more comfortable after every game. Head coach Jacque Vaughn plans on testing Oladipo at both guard positions and have him play with point guard Jameer Nelson as well as shooting guard Arron Afflalo in the last three preseason games.
Teammate Nikola Vučević has had tough match-ups this past week. On Monday he faced Dirk Nowitzki and the Dallas Mavericks, on Wednesday he faced Dwight Howard and the Houston Rockets and Friday night he faced Marc Gasol and the Memphis Grizzlies. Vučević says playing against players better than him gives him a chance to see how he matches up.
One of Vučević’s goals this season is to be a more aggressive player and this past week he has done just that. On Friday night, he played very aggressive but ended up fouling out in the third quarter. Before exiting the game,Vučević recorded his first double-double of the preseason with 13 points and 11 rebounds.
The Magic will host Pink in the Paint Breast Cancer Awareness Night on Oct. 20 during the Magic vs. Pistons game (6 p.m. ET.) The Magic’s coaching staff will wear pink ties during the game and encourage fans to wear pink as well.
