TAMPA, FEB. 11, 2014 – USF will take on its seventh ranked team of the season when it plays at No. 24 UConn at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Hartford, Conn.
With five of the 10-team American Athletic Conference currently ranked in the AP Top 25 Poll, the remaining seven regular season games will be challenging for the Bulls (12-12, 3-8) who are coming off a 79-69 loss to Rutgers on Saturday. USF is 0-6 this season when playing a ranked opponent, but now have a win over a team that just entered the Top 25 for the first time since 1985 in No. 23 SMU.
The Bulls have been led all season by senior forward Victor Rudd (Los Angeles) and his 15.0 points per game which ranks ninth in The American. He ranks 15th in career scoring at USF and is 43 points shy of tying Fred Lewis (1,105) for 14th. Rudd was selected to The American Honor Roll for the fourth time this season after averaging 20.0 points and 8.5 rebounds last week which included a season-high 25 points at UCF.
The Bulls’ other senior, Martino Brock (Memphis, Tenn.) enjoyed a solid week with a season-high 17 points in the game against Rutgers and in USF’s 79-78 overtime win at UCF. The guard has started 11 times this season, but has come off the bench in each of the last five games as head coach Stan Heath has stuck with the same starting five over that span.
The No. 24 Huskies (18-5, 6-4) have won four of their last five games including a 75-55 win at UCF on Sunday. Senior guard Shabazz Napier is a do-it-all player for UConn as he leads the team with 17.7 points, 5.9 rebounds and 5.6 assists per game. The Huskies are coached by former UConn great Kevin Ollie who is in his first year at the helm.
UConn leads the all-time series 10-2 but USF won the last meeting  65-51 in Tampa last season. The last two meetings in Connecticut went to the Huskies, both in overtime. UConn won 69-64 on Feb. 3, 2013 and 66-61 on Dec. 31, 2010.

USF plays in-state rival UCF on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. on ESPNews. The Bulls won the first meeting in an exciting fashion, 79-78 in overtime on a free throw with 0.8 seconds remaining.
