USF lands 49ers Paul Wulff for new OC
According to multiple media sources including Niners Nation, the University of South Florida have landed the San Francisco 49ers senior offensive assistant Paul Wulff as their new offensive co-ordinator. Wulff was first hired by the 49ers in May 2012 to serve as a “senior offensive assistant” to head coach Jim Harbaugh.
It no secret that Harbaugh is the mentor of USF coach Willie Taggart and the two men have a very good working relationship. Wulff was the head coach at Washington State from 2008-2011 where he went 9-40 in his four seasons before being fired. He also spent time at Eastern Washington University, FCS school.
The loss of Wulff marks the second coach under Harbaugh to take a job elsewhere in the 2013 season. Previously, offensive line coach Tim Drevno to an identical job with the University of Southern California which he also will have running game coordinator responsibilities.
Wuff worked closely with 49ers offensive coordinator Greg Roman in the development of Colin Kaepernick and was part of the coaching staff that help make the San Francisco offense that is one of the best in the NFL. It was reported that Wuff wanted to return to college and USF was recomended to him by Harbaugh.
He is known as a great motivator and a strong recruiter, so it looks like the Bulls really got their man in Wuff.
