UCF Women's Soccer Tops Stetson 4-0
In their second home game of the season, the UCF Women's soccer team came out on top of the Stetson Hatters 4-0. Friday night was the first time the two teams had met since 2004. With the win, the Knights increased their winningrecord against the Hatters to 19-0 overall and 9-0 at home.
The first two goals of the night were scored by freshman Kayla Adamek who had the first start of her career Friday. Head Coach Tiffany Roberts Sahaydak said that she earned her starting spot and the respect of her whole team by working her tail off.
"As a freshman, she has come in and earned the respect of all of her teammates with her drive and her work ethic and whether we're at training or she comes off of the bench, she just gives us this energy."
The next two goals were scored by Taylor Townsend and Katy Ling which were both double assisted. Ashley Nicol and Megan Fish both assisted Townsend's goal and Lena Peterman and Amanda Wilkin both assisted Ling's goal.
Roberts Sahaydak went on to say that she hopes the team realizes why they won and that they carry it on to the next game.
"I think we're a talented team but I don't think that's why we won tonight, I think the fact that we focused on our work ethic and being our best at every moment and taking care of details and playing together, I want them to know that's the reason why we won tonight. So if we can remember that and bring that into Brown and then bring that into every game that's always going to be our standard...Hopefully we will reiterate that for Brown."
Roberts Sahaydak and the Knights stay at home on Sunday to face Brown at 1pm. The two teams have never met before and it will be the fourth team this season that the Knights will be meeting for the first time.
