UCF win big for the school and for the AAC
The score board at University of Phoenix Stadium read Central Florida 52 and Baylor 42. The 2014 Fiesta Bowl Champions were the Knights of the American Athletic Conference. It is simply hard to describe how big a win this was for all involved.
Everyone had heard and read the many pronouncements that Central Florida was not a BCS Bowl worthy team. That Baylor would simply run the out of like a Pop Warner league team. This after all was supposed to be Louisville representing the AAC on their way to joining the ACC in 2014.
But no this was a University of Central Florida team that is a proud member of the AAC. They are happy to be a member of the conference and showed the national media that the AAC was wise to invest in colleges that are not well known, yet but are growing into powers.
Recruiting at Central Florida got a bit easier but one must still remember that Florida State, Miami and oh yes the University of Florida are still higher on the state football food chain but the Knights now have something quite nice to put in their trophy case.
Meanwhile, the AAC went 2-2 in their bowl games this year which is better than the ACC which was a dismal 3-6 with two games left. The Big Ten was 2-4 with one game left to go and the Big 12 was also 2-4 with one more game to go.
The SEC is 5-1 with one game left and the Pac 12 finished an impressive 6-3 in bowl games this year.
