UCF Reflects on 8 Seasons with C-USA
Tomorrow marks the official beginning of the American Athletic Conference era for the University of Central Florida. The Knights spent the last eight seasons as members of Conference-USA, and have been quite successful in that span.
Some of those successes include: Two C-USA conference championships (2007, 2010), and four divisional championships (2005, 2007, 2010, 2012).
The Knights have also earned five bowl game invitations while in C-USA, including wins in the last two. Perhaps one of the biggest wins in program-history came in the 2010 AutoZone Liberty Bowl, when UCF stunned the University of Georgia with a 10-6 victory.
UCF Athletics has been asking fans all week to post their favorite C-USA memories on Twitter and Facebook, and yesterday the football team released a “top 10 C-USA moments” list. The moments are sorted by year, not by importance, so it’s up to the reader to decide the order.
Of course one of the games on the list is the Dec. 4, 2010 game vs. SMU:
-Dec. 4, 2010 – vs. SMU – Hosting its third C-USA Championship Game, UCF controlled SMU in a 17-7 victory, which featured Latavius Murray scoring both of the Knights’ touchdowns. With its second C-USA crown, the Black and Gold earned another trip to the AutoZone Liberty Bowl, where the Knights defeated Georgia for a program-record 11th win.
