UCF Falls Flat Against Michigan

The UCF baseball team was back in Orlando Wednesday night and fell to the Michigan Wolverines 3-2. In the ninth inning, the Knights at the winning run at bat but could not bring him around to get the win.
Going into the ninth, the Knights were trailing 3-1 and had runners on first and second base when senior Bret Gordon stepped to plate and grounded out but was able to avoid a double play. The speedy junior, Erik Barber, scored on the play to make it a one-run game. Unfortunately, the Knights rally was short lived as the game ended with a strikeout.
As far as pitching went, junior Tanner Olson had a great first-career start for the Knights. Olson only allowed two hits and one unearned run over 4.2 innings. With his strong effort he lowered his ERA to 3.18.
Junior pitcher Parker Thomas followed Olson, striking out two in 1.2 innings. The Knights pitching was able to hold Michigan to only 6 hits, but the defense made some costly errors that led to two unearned runs.
Offense is proving to be an issue for the Knights. For the past few games they haven’t been able to get the bats going while making unnecessary errors on the field. The Knights will have to get it together and reassemble the strategy on the field as they will begin a three game series against Central Michigan at home beginning Friday at 6:30 pm.UCF Falls Flat Against Michigan by Heather Perry
