Tuck: Seminoles Secret Weapon?

“I know what’s coming,” former NFL QB Trent Dilfer said last Thursday in the Super Bowl XLVII media center. “I know the kid at Florida State, Jameis Winston, will be an absolute rock star.”
The ESPN analyst didn’t stop there though when talking about a kid that hasn’t even taken a snap in college football yet.
“He’ll be the first pick of the draft if the first pick goes to a team that wants to run the pistol, zone-read, have a passer. He’s that kind of kid.”
At 6’4″, 206 lbs, the redshirt freshman quarterback comes in well-credentialed. He was the nation’s top quarterback prospect in the class of 2012, who was also considered a top baseball prospect in the 2012 Major League Baseball Amatuer draft. He was a USA Today 2011 All-USA first team All-American, 2012 Parade All-American, SI.com second team All-American, ESPNHS first team All-American and Under Armour All-American, and was selected the 2011 Alabama Gatorade State Player of the Year. Winston was rated a five-star quarterback by Scout and a four-star QB by Rivals, ESPN and 247Sports.
Perhaps he’ll evolve to be as great as Dilfer suggests. I am sure FSU fans will just be happy if he approaches the impact of a couple of last year’s redshirt freshmen quarterback, Marcus Mariota of Oregon and Johnny Manziel of Texas A&M.
Heck, Noles fans may settle on an upgrade to the departed EJ Manuel. That high praise has got to get you excited though, right?
