MOST IMPROVED

PF Ryan Anderson, ORL- The Magic forward earned a full-time starting gig and saw an obvious jump in his game.  His scoring increased by over 5ppg, his rebounding went up by 2rpg, while he led the NBA in 3pt FG attempted and made.  He also collected the 6th most offensive rebounds this year.  He beats out Greg Monroe, Ty Lawson, and the injury-plagued Jeremy Lin and Kyle Lowry.

ROOKIE OF THE YEAR

PG Kyrie Irving, CLE- No arguments here.  He was better than advertised from the jump, leading the Cavs in scoring and assists, and looks like he’ll be an all-star sooner than later.  Ricky Rubio was a distant second.

SIXTH MAN OF THE YEAR

SG James Harden, OKC- One of the smartest, savviest, and athletic wing players in the league.  Gives the Thunder everything they could ask for off the bench.  Edges out Lou Williams for the honor with mentions to Al Harrington and Jason Terry.

COACH OF THE YEAR

Gregg Popovich, SA- Pop is the best in the business.  To have the Spurs with the best recond in a shortened season while one of your best players missed a big chunk of it, while utilizing your entire roster is pretty amazing.  Tom Thibodeau is second.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR

C Tyson Chandler, NY- Transformed a Knicks defense from one of the worst to one of the best.  What he does doesn’t show up in the numbers, but it is reflected in his teammates.  This was as competitive as the award has been in years with no less than 5 players with a legit argument.
