Tuck: LeBron James Should Do Slam Dunk Contest 2015
LeBron James says about the NBA slam dunk contest, "I'd win it."
He also refuses to enter it.
Every great NBA dunker ever has appeared. Michael Jordan, Julius Erving, Clyde Drexler, Dominique Wilkins, Vince Carter, Tracy McGrady, Kobe Bryant, Scottie Pippen, Shawn Kemp, Andre Iguodala, Jason Richardson, Nate Robinson, JR Smith, Amar'e Stoudmire, Blake Griffin, Dwight Howard, and many others.
Super-stars. All-time great showmen. The best that have ever done it.
One name is missing. LeBron James.
How is that possible?
Is he afraid to lose? Afraid of the pressure? Lack of competition? Or too much competition?
Not all those great players won the contest. Even some that won, lost in other attempts. Nobody thinks any less of them. It's a fun contest. Something for the fans.
If LeBron James wants to further increase his popularity, and even gain back some fans he's lost, he'd sign up to the do the dunk contest.
Next year. The biggest stage. The world's most famous arena. Madison Square Garden. New York City. NBA All-Star Weekend 2015.
He wants attention. He craves that status as a global icon. Go. Get. It. LeBron James should have already done this contest. Next year might be his best opportunity. Win or lose it will be a spectacle.
He's just too good to deny fans the entertaining show he'd put on. I know I'd appreciate it. It would be the highest rated dunk contest ever. Perhaps he could even coax a couple of other stars to join him. It wouldn't really matter though. Everybody would tune in to watch him. Even if he doesn't owe it to us, the fans, he owes it to the history of basketball. I know he can appreciate that.
I expect to see you in the dunk contest next year in New York LeBron.
