Top Playmakers: NFL Divisional Round

Posted By Amanda Borges On January 10, 2014 @ 2:16 PM In Borges - Article,main feature,NFL | No Comments

This weekend, the divisional round of the NFL playoffs will be full of intense games. There will need to be some fancy footwork and creative routes to for any team take the win in the upcoming games. There are specific playmakers on each team that will put on a show for spectators and help their team take home a victory.

In the Colts vs. Patriots game Saturday night, New England has an edge:

LeGarrette Blount

This running back has been on fire for Indianapolis’ past two games. He rushed for 189 yards and two touchdowns in the final regular season game. He also added another 145 yards on two kickoff returns, setting up two touchdowns in the 2nd half.

Because of his hard work, he won the AFC’s Offensive Player of the Week by Pro Football Talk.

When the Seahawks face the Saints Saturday afternoon, the Saints will have to be able to contain Seattle’s QB.

Russell Wilson

This dynamic quarterback defines the term “playmaker.” He is an athlete that can play tough, but sneaky. He drives opposing defenses crazy with his ability to run.

He doesn’t get rattled under pressure and his demeanor can be dangerous when he’s really focused on what he needs to get done.

The last time these two teams met, Wilson was the best player on the field, among both offenses. He ran for 310 yards and 3 touchdowns, without throwing any interceptions.

The 49ers know exactly who to use against North Carolina on Sunday:

Michael Crabtree

This wide receiver has had a great impact on QB Colin Kaepernick and the rest of the offense since he came back from his Achilles injury.

The 49ers offense average over 308 yards per game without Crabtree but with him, the number goes up to over 360 yards.

Crabtree and Kaepernick really make the picture perfect duo. In the past three games alone, Crabtree surpassed 100 yards twice and aided in the team’s success against Green Bay.

Sunday afternoon, the Chargers will have to watch out for a certain Broncos player:

Demaryius Thomas

Thomas will be able to take advantage of having Wes Welker back. This wide receiver had an extraordinary game during his first matchup with the Chargers, catching 7 passes for 108 yards and three touchdowns.

Without Welker during Week 15, Thomas had a tough time getting open downfield. He only came away with four catches for 45 yards.

Luckily, the Welker-Thomas connection is open for business once again and the team can utilize both assets on Sunday.
