VIDEO: Tim Wright Talks About His Role in Jeff Tedford’s Offense
Yesterday after practice, head coach Lovie Smith talked about the tight end position and how he will more than likely dress three at that spot because each member of that group brings a unique skill set, including Tim Wright, the H-back. We spoke to Tim Wright after practice to find out about his responsibilities in Jeff Tedford‘s offense.
“They brought in a little beef into the tight end position so that takes a little bit off of me with being in there every play like I did towards the end last year,” Wright said, referring to Brandon Myers, a veteran free agent, and rookie Austin Seferian-Jenkins, who are both bigger, more traditional in-line blocking tight ends.
“It gives us a little more of a diversity. I’m just in a position to catch the ball, to do some lead blocking, to go in there, put my head in on these defensive ends and just get the job done.”
Wright also talked about how Seferian-Jenkins is progressing and how he enjoys playing for new head coach Lovie Smith.
