The Rays Begin Their Quest For A World Championship
David Price Set To Take On R.A. Dickey In Rays Season Opener
The baseball season is a marathon and the Rays line up at the starting line today. The marathon will begin with first pitch at 4:10 p.m. as former Cy Young winners David Price and R.A. Dickey take the mound.
While the season is a marathon it is made up of 162 mini-sprints and in the end each and every game is weighted equally. The Rays roster is set, the teams expectations are high, and as Manager Joe Maddon says “he wants his team to eat last.”
Today will be a good test for the Rays as they take on R.A. Dickey who was terrific against them last year posting a 3-1 record in 6 starts against with a 2.91 ERA and holding the team to a triple slash line of .187/.254/.355. Three of his starts were at Tropicana Field where he posted a 1-0 record with a 2.45 ERA.
Last season the Rays won 11 out of 19 games against the Jays. David Price only made two starts against them posting a record of 1-0 with a 3.60 ERA.
