According to CBS Sports , Orioles All-Star third baseman Manny Machado hasn’t been able to run for five days and is going to miss his previously (albeit tentatively) scheduled re-evaluation appointment for this coming Tuesday. He is dealing with scar tissue and soreness in his surgically-repaired left knee.
The chances of Machado breaking camp with the club have obviously taken a hit, but the possibility is not off the table.
“I wouldn’t say very, very difficult,” Showalter said (orioles.com). “Nolan Reimold is going to have 22 at-bats in two days [in Minor League camp]. In four days we can get Manny more plate appearances than guys over here are going to break camp with. That’s something if you so deemed it. So, certainly it looks like that way. I’m not there yet. I’m not going to throw that wet blanket over that yet. I know Manny’s not.” More…
