Hey Yankees, Who’s On First?
Last night, Carlos Beltran played first base for the first time in his career against the Boston Red Sox.
With Jeter dealing with quad issues and Francisco Cervelli falling to a pulled hamstring, Girardi’s only other option was to move Brian McCann to first and see if he could sneak himself into the game behind the plate.
The Yankees were able to win last night, but what does the future have in store for a team that is already dealing with injured veterans in Mark Teixeira, Brian Roberts and Derek Jeter? While Girardi wants to play off Jeter’s quad injury, it seems like it might be more serious than we are being lead to believe given that Carlos Beltran putting on a first base mit wasn’t enough of an emergency situation last night to get Jeter into the game.
Is it time to call Stephen Drew yet?
