The Hump Day Huddle: Turkey Edition
The Week That Was:
Well, another one (or two) bit the dust this week, as previously undefeated Baylor was thumped by Okie State and #5 Oregon was absolutely throttled in the desert by Arizona. #1 Alabama beat up on Chattanooga, and #2 FSU disappointed against Idaho, scoring 80 points but allowing Idaho to reach the end zone – twice. The Seminole defense better get its act together before heading down to Gainesville on Saturday to take on the mighty Gators, who hit rock bottom with a 26-20 loss to FCS (1-AA) powerhouse (not even close), Georgia Southern.
Oregon’s Marcus Mariotta, Baylor’s Bryce Petty and Texas A&M’s Johhny Football all took considerable hits to their respective campaigns. FSU’s Jameis Winston held a pretty firm lead before last weekend, and even with all this allegation hoopla surrounding him, is still a pretty solid choice for the Heisman. Some voters may be skeptical, but once everything clears up for Winston this should be a slam dunk pick to bring home the hardware. Boston College’s Andre Williams became the ACC’s first 2,000 yard rusher over the weekend, sky-rocketing up the charts and nipping at the heels of Famous Jameis. So you’re telling me that the ACC has potentially two of the top Heisman finalists and two of the top six teams in the country? Hogwash, I say!

The Week That Is:
Rivalry Week is finally upon us, and with the way it shaped up for us this year, it looks like I won’t be leaving the couch until late Saturday night. From the NFL being on all day for Turkey Day, high school championships on Friday and the ridiculous college slate on Saturday, I’m hoping that A.) I don’t run out of food, and B.) Hopefully I can squeeze a shower in there somewhere. Given the magnificent cornucopia of football that we have waiting for us though, changing my gravy-stained Thanksgiving clothes may have to wait until Sunday.
