The Gator Grind: Florida Continues To Prepare For Fall

Florida_Gators_Jeff_Driskel_2012Its back to the gridiron for the Florida Gators as they prepare for the upcoming 2014 season and with the offseason, comes a fresh start and a lot of changes for the Florida football team.

While Floridas defense continues in the fourth year of the same impressive system, the offense is starting from scratch. A lot of emphasis this offseason has been on the offensive side of the ball and the installation and development of the new uptempo, shotgun spread offense under first-year offensive coordinator Kurt Roper.

Gator fans can expect to see a much improved Florida offense now that starting quarterback Jeff Driskel is healthy and back in action. Driskels 2013 season ended prematurely after suffering a broken leg in a victory over Tennessee. Driskel suffered the season ending injury early in the first quarter as he was throwing a pass that was intercepted and returned by the Vols for a touchdown. However, now that the 2013 college football season is long gone, things are beginning to look a lot brighter for the Florida football team.

The Gators unveiled a glimpse of this new offense during spring camp as well as Floridas Orange and Blue Debut game in April and Roper without a doubt, seems like a great fit for Florida - especially for Driskel given that he runs a spread system that fits Driskels athletic ability perfectly.

Its no secret that all eyes are on Florida and anticipation is high with the return of Driskel and with Roper taking over for Brent Pease, leaving Gator fans longing for an exceptional upcoming season. Florida head coach Will Muschamp is extremely pleased with the development of the new offense and the teams overall enhancement during spring, and says fans will be pleased when they witness the major changes this fall.

Until then, its back to the Gator grind this summer in preparation for August when Florida unleashes its quicker, exciting, and explosive offense as well as some big time playmakers.
