Tebow And Jets Destine To Fail From Beginning

Westhoff: Jets handling of Tebow was 'an absolute mess'

Former Jets special teams coordinator Mike Westhoff, who retired after the season, slammed the team for their use or lack thereof of backup quarterback Tim Tebow.

It was a mess, an absolute mess. I was very disappointed . .. , Westhoff told WQAM Radio in Miami.

If you throw him in the middle of a dropback quarterback offense he will look very, very average at best. But if you incorporate him in different facets of your offense, he can be a factor. Thats what I felt we were going to do, but we never did it.

To be honest, I dont think anyone has really answered that question: Why didnt we do it? Westhoff told host and former Dolphins tight end Joe Rose.

I dont think anyone has answered that question. I dont know why. I know we didnt practice it. We didnt practice it in training camp, we were going to unveil it. Well, I am still waiting for the unveiling. . . It was a distraction and really a shame because thats a hard-working young man if you ever saw one.
