Mike Montgomery Finding Comfort Zone

Sometimes it’s just time for a change.

Tampa Bay Rays left-hander Mike Montgomery is a prime example of this, as he had begun his pro career as one of the best lefty pitching prospects in the game before control problems and decreased velocity started diminishing his performance on the mound.

Now, a move over from the arm-side of the rubber to the glove-side has helped him get inside consistently to right-handed batters with his fastball for strikes. However, what is more important is that Montgomery has accepted who he is, as pitchers who are used to having plus fastballs don’t always easily accept the fact that they are now working with average velocity.
