Nikita Kucherov [1] found the back of the net for his third goal of the season with only 0:44 seconds left in the second period to tie the game at 1-1.

The Lightning had an excellent opportunity to tie the game early in the period when Martin St. Louis [2] broke through all alone short handed against Red Wing Goalie Jonas Gustavsson [3] but his shot was just wide of the net.

Lightning goalie Ben Bishop [4] made two outstanding saves to keep the Red Wings from extending their lead.

The Lightning were outshot 8-6 in the first period but came back to outshoot the Red Wings 10-6 in the second period and lead 16-14 for the game.

Special Teams:

The Lightning Penalty Kill unit killed the Red Wings second opportunity (3:06 Mark Barberio [5]).
