Bolts Play Best Game Of The Season

The Tampa Bay Lightning put a complete game on display Tuesday night at the Tampa Bay Times Forum.
“We gave up at least one point last game and in this league; you get a home start you can’t lose two in a row. We got some good teams coming in and I thought we answered pretty well from the get go,” Martin St. Louis said.
The Bolts defeated the Los Angeles Kings 5-1 with solid defense and special teams. Kings goalie Jonathan Quick was chased from his in the second period after the Lightning scored their third goal.
With an assist on Ryan Malone’s goal, St. Louis now has 900 career points in a Lightning uniform.
Ben Bishop stood on his head in the first period and weathered the storm in the second. Victor Hedman had the biggest block of the night when the Bolts were on a 4-minute penalty kill. The net was wide open and Hedman got a shin pad on the puck.
“I think we were pretty upset about the way we played last game with the penalty kill. I think we really stepped up in being more aggressive in our own end, make sure we got pucks down deep and was a little more aggressive up in the gap. We just refocused and watched a lot of tape and go out there and make sure our penalty kill was the difference and it sure was. I thought we gained momentum off of that four minute kill and we took off,” said Hedman.
Stay tuned for post game interviews from the Lightning locker room.
“You’d like to see how your team responds, naturally. I think it was probably good for us that we had a little bit of break to kind of digest what happened and came back to work on Monday, but probably the thing that I was impressed with was that we matched their physicality. They pushed on us, we bent a little bit, but, we didn’t break. You got to give a lot of credit to the penalty kill, especially to kill off the four minutes, that was arguably, you could call it the turning point, but that was a big part of it for us,” head coach Jon Cooper said.Bolts Play Best Game Of The Season by Matthew Sardo
