Bucs Trade Mike Williams to the Bills for Sixth-Round Pick

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have traded wide receiver Mike Williams to the Buffalo Bills in exchange for a sixth-round draft pick in 2014, Sports Talk Florida has learned.
The news was first reported by James Walker of ESPN and was confirmed by the Bucs shortly after.
“We thank Mike for his contributions to the Buccaneers over the last four seasons. At this time, we felt this was best for both sides and we wish Mike well going forward,” Buccaneers general manager Jason Licht said in a statement.
The move reunites Williams with his former college coach at Syracuse, Doug Marrone. It also brings Williams back to his hometown, where he once starred at Riverside High School.
A fourth-round draft pick by the Bucs in 2010, Williams had signed a six-year $40 million deal last offseason under former GM Mark Dominik.
But a string of incidents this offseason did not sit well with new regime or ownership, leading to speculation of a possible trade or release.
(Note: Earlier this week, I discussed Williams’ uncertain future with the team)
He was the victim of a domestic altercation with his brother last month that resulted in a stab wound that required him to be taken to the hospital by ambulance.
Williams’ brother, Eric Baylor, was charged with aggravated battery and domestic violence.
He faces misdemeanor charges of trespassing and criminal mischief and from an incident involving his ex-girlfriend last December and had just been approved for a pre-trial intervention program to have those charges dismissed.
Williams also faces a lawsuit over a kitchen fire that occurred at the previous home he was renting in Lutz, just outside Tampa.
He has already been ordered to pay $43,000 for his well-documented house parties at the home, which forced neighbors to call police on multiple occasions.
Off-the-field incidents have plagued Williams throughout his NFL and college career.
In November of 2011, he was pulled over on suspicion of driving under the influence, but charges were dropped after his urinalysis came back clean.
In 2008 at Syracuse, a year after receiving All-Big East second team honors, he was suspended for academic issues. The following season, Williams was involved in a car accident and quit the team when faced with another possible suspension for violating team rules.
