Are The Rays Asking Too Much For David Price?
The Power Hour Interview: Steve Kinsella
The Power Hour crew talked with Sports Talk Florida Tampa Bay Rays insider Steve Kinsella about the latest rumors and news surrounding the David Price trade deadline rumors.
Are the Rays asking too much for David Price?
“Well they have him under team control next year so they could trade him over the winter. If they don’t get what they’re asking for or if what they are offered today is what they think they can get for him in the winter anyway, they’ll go ahead and hold on to him and the only thing they risk is an injury down the stretch. But yeah they’re asking for game changers. They want a team to give up their top two or three prospects for David Price and rightly so.”
What’s the feel of the locker room?
“Oh the locker room was great today. Very energetic. You can’t tell they lost to the Boston Red Sox and had their nine game winning streak snapped yesterday. They were very upbeat. Joel Peralta is back [from the Chikunguya virus] and that always does a lot to the locker room. He’s one of the leaders of that locker room and just having him back was a pick me up. Chris Archer commented on the incident with David Ortiz and did not back off of his statements from yesterday about David Ortiz and you can see that the Rays are going to have a very eventful Labor Day weekend down here.”
